From Pressure to Performance: Mental Wellness for the Whole
At Knew Expectations, we believe the mental game is where champions are made, but also where too many athletes are left without support.
Suicide is now the second leading cause of death among NCAA college athletes. 44% of female college athletes report feeling constantly overwhelmed, and over 52% of athletes say they would not feel comfortable seeking help from a campus mental health provider.
Our Student Athlete & High Achievers Program was built to change those numbers. We deliver confidential, evidence-based mental health services, specifically designed for the pressures of competitive sport and high performance.
• AAU and club sport athletes (youth through post-secondary)
• High school student athletes
• College athletes (NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA)
• High achievers in academics, performing arts, and competitive environments
• Teams and athletic programs seeking embedded mental wellness support
Individual Therapy: Confidential 1-on-1 sessions with a licensed clinician. Athletes set the agenda. Nothing is shared without their consent.
Group Mental Wellness Sessions: Interactive group sessions designed to build team trust, communication, and shared mental resilience. We have already delivered multiple sessions with Chicago-area student athletes.
Team Workshops: 60–90 minute workshops delivered to your team or program. Topics include mental toughness, managing pressure, identity beyond the game, and coping with recruiting stress.
University & Program Partnerships: Embedded mental health services for athletic departments. We work alongside your existing sports medicine and academic support staff.

Knew Expectations has delivered group mental wellness sessions at Bronzeville Classical School in Chicago, hosted community mental health awareness events at the Ophelia Steen Center, and facilitated public conversations about athlete mental health at Lacuna Lofts.
Our founder, Mora Spicer II, MSW, LCSW, attended the inaugural College Athlete Mental Health Conference and has partnered directly with coaches committed to developing the whole athlete.
We are currently expanding to Chicago-area universities, including Chicago State University and Loyola University Chicago.
Whether you are a coach looking to support your athletes, a university athletic department exploring a partnership, or an athlete ready to invest in your mental game, we want to hear from you. The first team workshop is on us.
